Arsene Wenger says Arsenal defenders must stop Watford strikers if they want to beat the club on Saturday. The Gunners are yet to win a match this season, they lost their first 2016/17 premier league encounter 4-3 to Liverpool.
The English Premier League giants drew their second game 0-0 at Leicester, they are currently on the 13th position on the log standings with just one point.Arsenal are visiting Watford on Saturday as they seek to clinch the first win of the season.
This will be a tough encounter for Wenger’s side , Watford are very competitive, the club finished last season’s campaign 13th on the log.Not a bad result for a then newly promoted team but they will surely be hoping to improve this season.
Wenger is fully aware that Watford are capable of causing an upset on Saturday. The Gunners coach said on the club website that keeping Ighalo and Deeney at bay will give them a fair chance of collecting the first three points of the season.
“They were very efficient last year with the two strikers up front together, Ighalo and Deeney,” Wenger said. “One of the keys for us will be to keep them quiet.
“I rate Deeney because he’s a player who has technical quality first of all, but he’s also a fighter. To find a player who combines these two things is not easy.
“He’s very strong in the challenges, the duels, and in the link play as well. I was impressed by him last year.
“We need a first win after our game at Leicester. Of course the international break comes too soon because players go away with their national teams [and] are not ready yet to start for us yet in the Premier League, because we had to rest them as they’ve played in international games.
“Not everybody is up to speed completely. We still have some players who are a little bit behind.”
