Rickie Lambert of Liverpool has confessed that he almost signed for Aston Villa on the last day of the transfer window but decided to stay at Liverpool in order for him to try and revive his career as he has been there only just for a few months.Lambert has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool since he joined the club from Southampton last year with a transfer amount of 4 million pounds.
The England international has played 26 games for the Reds but only being able to score three goals in all competitions.Liverpool did not start this season in a positive streak as they failed to register wins in the first few games of the league with forwards like Lambert failing to convert goals for the team.Luis Suarez had been a prolific goal scorer for Liverpool last season and the team struggled when he left for Barcelona,As a result the Reds brought in strikers such as Mario Balotteli.
Aston Villa on the other hand who are desperate for goals were hoping to strike a deal with Lambert and a three and a half year agreement had been reached only for the player to cut a deal off in the last minutes.Lambert admits that it was close and he almost took a decision to go Aston Villa but eventually agreed to strike a deal and stay at Liverpool. Lambert also cited that it would have been too soon for him to leave Liverpool six months after his arrival.Lambert is hoping to do better for the Liverpool side in the last remaining games,the club is looking to reach the top 4 spot on the league table so they can qualify for the next Uefa Champions League.
Aston Villa are at the bottom of the English Premier League log standings and they are desperate to escape out of the relegation zone,the remaining matches in the domestic league will be crucial for the Aston Villa side as they will be seeking survive and continue playing in the top division next season.This is not going to be an easy task for Aston Villa as all the clubs in the bottom of the table are also fighting for survival, Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City are also trying to break away from the relegation zone.

Rickie Lambert established himself as a player at Blackpool after he had been released by Liverpool as a teenager.After a stint at Blackpool the player then went to Macclesfield Town,he did mot stay in the club for long as he later joined other teams throughout his junior years such as Stockport District, Rochadale,Bristol and later Southampton.Lambert eventually Lambert went back to a club that he began his career at,the club being Liverpool which he joined in 2014
