Former Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has been sidelined by his team due to injury. The 24 year old German international is suffering form a muscle problem and will miss the DFB Cup final as a result. Gotze who has just returned to Dortmund from Bayern Munich was unable to recover soon enough to feature in the DFB Cup Final according to the Bundesliga website.
Borussia Dortmund will face Eintracht Trier in the final and the club has confirmed that Mario Gotze and Marco Reus will not be available for the domestic clash.With both Marco Reus and Mario Gotze sidelined due to injury,the club’s coach Thomas Tuchel will have no choice but to improvise with other players.
Eintracht Trier , a team that plays in a forth-tier league in Germany have played against Dortmund at the same competition .The clubs met in 1997 where Dortmund was shockingly defeated 2-1 by Trier in the last 16 group stages.The German giants had just won the Uefa Champions League and the World Club Championship tittles.
Tuchel says he is certain that Borussia Dortmund will win despite both Gotze and Reus being unavailable for the team.”We have conducted an intense analysis of our opponents. They are compact and disciplined in defence,” he said. “We’re not playing our first-ever cup tie though and I have full confidence in my team to win the game.” he said.
Borussia Dortmund will have to rely on Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayeng to do the job for the team. Dembele , who joined the club this season from Rennes has played well during the preseason preparations and has impressed coach Tuchel.
Both Reus and Gotze have a history with long term injury , the club will be hoping that the two stars recover and help the team win the league and do well in Europe.Dortmund finished second in the League last season, the club will participate in the Uefa Champions League this season.
