Reus extends contract with Dortmund

Marco Reus has decided to stay in Dortmund for the next four possible years,this happens after the 25 year old German forward extended his contract until 2019. Reus had been linked to Spanish giants Real Madrid and other English Premiership teams but the vice captain  has decided to commit to Borussia Dortmund for four more seasons.

Marco Reus has had his fair share of injuries,he was denied to participate in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil due to an ankle injury.The player has been influential for Germany and his club side Dortmund.He helped the team reach UEFA Champions League finals where the lost to Bayern Munich.

Dortmund are still struggling to escape the the relegation zone even though they have won their last couple of games.The club is adamant however that they will move up the log table especially with the good news that Reus is staying still on their minds,this will help them to climb up the table to a more safe position.

Marco Reus has cited that he is very happy to stay at Borussia Dortmund and he looks forward to the future and helping the team do better in the competition.The team management also expressed their happiness to Marco Reus decision,citing that the player’s decision to stay was very important since the team is struggling at the moment.He will have to stay injury free in order to help the team do well in the remaining games of the Bundesliga league,Borussia Dortmund are also facing Juventus in the last 16 round of the Champions League.

Reus has suffered a long spell of injuries and has been on and off for the Dortmund setup this season and this is probably one of the reasons the club started the Bundesliga domestic league with a couple of poor performances.The play maker is now back to his fitness and  is contributing to the Borussia Dortmund’s efforts to bounce back and get away from the bottom of the league table.The club now has a task of atleast making sure that they qualify for next season’s  Uefa Europa League.

The Borrussia outfit have been playing well in the last couple of seasons,competing well in the domestic league and and the Uefa Champions League.They reached the finals in the 2012 season of the European competition where they were beaten by their rivals Bayern Munich in the unforgettable German final.

Marco Reus is a German footballer who plays for a German national team and Borussia Dortmund as a midfielder and winger.He is known for his speed and technique in his skillful type of play and he has played of three clubs in his career .Reus played for Borussia Dortmund as a youth before leaving the club for Rot Weiss Ahlem,the winger also went to play for Borussia Monchengladbach in the German Bundesliga.

He was very influential for Monchengladbach during the 2012 season where he helped them qualify for the next season’s UEFA Champions League.Marco Reus scored 18 goals and assisted 8 during his successful season at Monchengladbach,the team that utilized him as a right or left winger and even in the middle of the field because of his ability to control the ball with both feet.He eventually moved to his home club Borussia Dortmund at the end of that season where he wears the number 11 jersey.

Reus won the 2013 DFL-Super Cup with Dortmund in 2013 and was part of the UEFA team of the year that same year.In 2012 he was named footballer of the year in Germany and was described as prolific by Franz Beckenbauer,his good perfomances saw him being ranked as fourth in the best footballer in Europe by Bloomberg.

Reus made his Under 21 debut in 2009 in a friendly against Turkey and was called up for the senior team in 2010 for the friendly Match against Malta.He missed the the 2010 World Cup because of the leg injury that he picked in his last Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen. He came back to the national team and played against Turkey but only scoring his first goal in 2012’s 5-3 defeat to Switzerland. Reus made a name for himself in the Joachim Low’s side as he scored 5 goals in six matches and registered 6 assists.However he didn’t play in the 2014  World Cup  because of the ankle injury he picked up in a warm up match against Armenia that they won 6-1.
